Growth of AI in the years
In today’s world, the main element is change, constant and unavoidable change. There is no longer any rational decision that can be taken without considering not just the world as it is, but also the world as it will be. As a result, our politicians, businesses, and people in general will be forced to adopt a science fictional mindset.
The seeds of modern AI were planted by classical philosophers who attempted to describe the process of human thinking as the mechanical manipulation of symbols.
Here is a timeline of the evolution of AI -
1950 — Ellen Turing proposed the Turing test
-Issac Asimov proposed the three laws of robotics
1951- The First AI-based program was written
1955- The first self-learning game playing program was written
1959 — MIT was set up.
1961 — The first robot was introduced into the GM assembly line
1964 — First Ai program was created that understands natural language
1965 — The first chatbot “Eliza” was invented
1974- First, an autonomous vehicle was created at Stanford AI lab
1989 — Carnegie Mellon created an autonomous vehicle using a neural network
1997 — IBM’s AI beats a human at chess
1999- Sony introduces Aibo
- MIT Lab demonstrates its first emotional AI
2004 — DARPA introduces an autonomous vehicle challenge
2009 — Google starts building a self-driving car
2010 — AI demonstrates the ability to write reports
2011- IBM WATSON beats jeopardy champions
- Siri, Google, and Cortona became mainstream
2015 — Fully driverless cars
2016- Google’s deep mind defeated Korean alpha go champion
- Stanford reports the AI 100 report
- UC Berkeley launches the human-compatible artificial intelligence
2018 — AI assistants were introduced
2019- Driverless car service
2020 — Increased speed of AI-enabled medical research
As you can see, AI is not a new concept in technology, but the advancements we are making are progressing at an exponential pace, mainly due to the leverage of the ever-faster computing power of today’s computers, the explosion of digital data and the speed of communication infrastructure.
In some ways, the commercialization era of AI has just become a reality and it will affect our world similarly or possibly more profoundly than the way the internet and mobile phones have done before.
